GOG Fall Film Series: The Decalogue (1988-90)

The GOG Graduate Film Series is happy to present Krzysztof Kieslowski’s legendary dramatic miniseries, The Decalogue (1988-90), in its entirety over the next three weeks. Of Kieslowski’s startlingly gorgeous and affecting project, Roger Ebert has said: “[The characters in The Decalogue are not] involved in the simpleminded struggles of Hollywood plots. They are adults, for the most part outside organized religion, faced with situations in their own lives that require them to make moral choices. You shouldn’t watch the films all at once… if you are lucky and have someone to talk with, you discuss them, and learn about yourself.”

Two weeks ago, we kicked off our screening of The Decalogue, and had our biggest turnout yet this semester! Our screening of this incredible miniseries in its entirety will reach its finale this Thursday, at 6:15 pm. If you were not able to catch any or all of the “episodes,” this should by no means deter you from attending Thursday night’s screening. While the 10 short films in this series are indeed linked thematically and spatially, they ultimately stand alone as individual, unique works. As usual, come with your friends, an open mind, and enjoy an evening of delicious films and delicious pizza!

Decalogue 8, 9, 10

When: 15th December, 2011, 6.15 pm onwards.
