About Us
From bare beginnings to ...

RIA was formed, in the spring of 2007. It is intended to serve as a platform for general social mingling and interpersonal interactions among students of Indian origin in the University of Rochester. RIA aims to foster our cultural bindings and encourage oneness on this campus by creating an ensemble of all graduate, post-doctoral and under-graduate students as a well knit community. For this purpose, RIA handles various affairs of a social nature such as Diwali Dhamaka, Holi Night, Independence Day celebrations and many more.
In addition, we do our best to ensure a smooth transition in the lives of all Indian newcomers who join us every year and become a part of our small community in this beautiful city of Rochester.
But most important of all we try our best to make our time spent in Rochester as a myriad collection of memories worth cherishing for the rest of our lives.
We invite all Indian students to become a part of this effort. Your suggestions will always be heard with utmost attention. Through our collective efforts that we can create a better niche for all of us.
In order to be able to organize our events we need the support of our members. To this end, RIA now acknowledges any monetary contribution you may want to make, to keep RIA moving forward and bringing together students from India and the subcontinent. For more information or to make a contribution, please feel free to contact us at ria.uor[at]gmail.com or contact a member of the RIA working council for more details.
