University of Rochester AS&E GSA

Have you ever felt it to be difficult to discuss your ideas with people outside your field? Have you ever felt embarrassed when an audience cannot follow your presentation? Do you want tips on public speaking or conveying your research to grant committees?

To help you better present your ideas and improve your presentations, GSA is holding the workshop: Communicating Your Research Well!

Speakers Leonor Sierra, Press Officer for Engineering and Science, and Peter Iglinski, Press Officer for Science and Public Media, will help you shape your presentations and teach you valuable skills for communicating with general audiences, from your thesis committee to your parents and friends.

If you are planning on joining the Falling Walls Conference Competition (http://www.rochester.edu/gsa/falling-walls-competition/), this is the workshop for you! It is also a great way to prepare for something like the 3-Minute-Thesis Competition (http://threeminutethesis.org/), coming soon to the University of Rochester!

Come to learn and get excited about these upcoming opportunities!

Please have a brief (about one minute) summary of your research in the back of your mind when coming to the workshop.

Workshop:  Communicate Your Research Well!
When:  Tuesday, March 29th @ 4 pm – 5 pm
Where: River Campus, Goergen Hall, Room 108

Speakers: Leonor Sierra, Press Officer for Engineering and Science
Peter Iglinski, Press Officer for Science and Public Media
