Academic and Research provides leadership and services that support the academic mission of the University. Program areas include the Educational Technology Center, Classroom Technology, Research Computing, and the IT Center, which support faculty, staff, and students.

Technical Support

IT Center: Located in Rush Rhees Library, the IT Center provides first-level technology support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of the University of Rochester. First level support is available for software installations, operating system upgrades, wireless network configurations, virus detection/disinfecting, and general troubleshooting.

More advanced desktop consulting is provided to administrative and academic units in Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, to University executives, to Advancement and to other areas through consulting liaisons assigned to specific areas.

Research Computing

Center for Research Computing:  The Center for Research Computing provides University researchers with the resources, assistance and collaborative tools necessary to fully utilize high-performance computation for their research activities. 

Instructional Technology Services

Educational Technology Center : Located on the ground floor in the Rush Rhees Library, the Ed Tech Center serves as a One-Stop-Shop to assist College faculty in the use of information technology tools in instruction, e.g., multimedia, collaboration software, and Internet resources such as the web through individual training and departmental support. The Educational Technology Center also provides support for College department (academic and administrative) web sites.

Classroom Technology Services : Located in Hoyt Hall, Classroom Technology oversees the management for "electronic hands-on classrooms" and traditional classrooms on the River Campus that are technology enhanced to meet the ever-growing demand for technology integration with instructional activities. Room and equipment reservations for undergraduate courses requiring technology enhanced classrooms are supported by this group in cooperation with the Office of the College Registrar.
