Buehler joined the University of Rochester in 1989, and has served in multiple roles of increasing responsibility in University Audit, Finance, and Administrative Computing since then. Her major accomplishments include consolidation of University IT-wide financial reporting and budgeting efforts and planning for long term IT funding strategies.
Buehler is a NYS Certified Public Accountant. She earned an M.B.A., with a concentration in Accounting and Information Systems, from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business in 1997. She earned a B.S. in Accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Buehler participates in several information technology and leadership organizations including: Educause, NACUBO, and American Women in Computing. She presents nationally on technology and business- related topics.
Buehler has been named an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow for academic year 2010-2011.

Eric E. Fredericksen joined the University of Rochester in 2005.
Eric serves as the Associate Vice Provost of Academic & Research
whose overall mission is to provide leadership and
services to support the academic mission of the University.
Prior to joining the University IT team, Eric served as the Director of
Academic Technology & Media Services at Cornell University. As a
senior manager in Cornell Information Technologies, he helped
craft Cornell's presence and direction in the use of
contemporary technologies to support research, outreach, and
teaching & learning both in and out of the classroom. His
responsibilities included the Academic Technologies, Classroom
Technologies, the Web Production Group and the Educational
Television Center.
Prior to Cornell, Eric was the Assistant Provost for Advanced
Learning Technology in the Office of the Provost in the State
University of New York System Administration where he provided
leadership and direction for all of SUNY's system-wide programs
focused on the innovative use of technology to support teaching
and learning. This included the nationally recognized SUNY
Learning Network - winner of the Educause Award for Systemic
Progress in Teaching and Learning and Sloan Awards for
Excellence in Faculty Development and Excellence in
Institution-wide Online programming. It also included the SUNY
Teaching Learning & Technology program and Project MERLOT which
were designed to complement the classroom with
technology-supported instruction.
Eric was also the Co-Principal Investigator and Administrative
Officer for three multi-year, multi-million dollar grants on
Asynchronous Learning Networks (ALN) from the Alfred P. Sloan
Foundation. He was responsible for the fiscal management,
strategic planning, policy development, faculty development,
marketing & promotion, technical support center for faculty and
students, and operations and technology infrastructure. He
managed a distributed statewide staff of IT, administrative &
faculty support professionals. Under his leadership the program
grew from 2 campuses offering 8 courses to 119 enrollments to 53
campuses offering 2500 courses to more than 40,000 enrollments
in just seven years.
Eric is active in national efforts, representing the University
of Rochester in national organizations including Educause, the
National Learning Infrastructure Initiative and the Sloan
Consortium. He is also the Chair of the Sloan Foundation Awards
Program for Excellence in Online Teaching and Learning.
Eric received his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Hobart
College, his M.B.A. from the William E. Simon Graduate School of
Business Administration and his M.S. in Curriculum Development &
Instructional Technology at the Graduate School of Education at
the University at Albany. He earned his Ed.D. from the Warner
Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of
Rochester. Eric also teaches in the Department of Educational Leadership
in the Warner School.

John P. Barden is the Associate Chief Information Officer and Director of Applications & Architecture for the University of Rochester. In collaboration with peers across the University, he supports the effective governance and use of enabling technologies. On a day-to-day basis, John is responsible for deployment and support of University-wide applications, project and portfolio management processes, as well as architecture functions for Information Technology.
John joined the University of Rochester in 2004, bringing with him ten years of experience at tier-one consulting firms where he served clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare and higher education. His work focused on multi-year, multi-million dollar transformation efforts. This experience primarily focused on information technology organizational transition, process re-engineering, and integrated system implementation. He has led IT teams responsible for a wide variety of areas: student, finance, grant management, supply chain, customer relationship management, advancement, data warehousing, web presence, and human resource systems.
In his time with the University, John has significantly reshaped the methods associated with IT solution design and delivery. He led the effort to create consistent project management methods, establish a formal quality assurance team, realign the applications group into discrete lines of business to better manage relationships with key colleagues across the university, and establish the architecture function. In addition, his team has delivered significant benefits to the community by collaborating on many projects, including improving the student technology experience through the University’s first student portal, improving information access and decision making through deployment of an integrated data warehouse, supporting campaign and alumni engagement objectives by implementing a comprehensive advancement solution, and aiding in University branding and outreach through substantial retooling of the University’s web presence. During the most recent strategic planning process, John led the planning efforts relating to enabling technologies and information security. In addition, he created and now leads the University’s information technology internship and college-based information technology recruiting programs.
John received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from Albion College, and his M.B.A. from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business. John participates in several information technology and leadership organizations, including Educause and the CIO Roundtable. He has served as a guest lecturer and has presented nationally on project management, major system implementation, Enterprise Resource Planning, and higher education administrative systems management.
In his leisure time, John can usually be found spending time with his family. He is an avid sailor and outdoor enthusiast. In conjunction with his volunteer work, John conducts informal research on the early American wine industry, as well as collaborates with scholars in this field of study.

Kate Crowley is Finance Director for University Information
Technology (University IT). Kate’s team is integrated within the
University IT units and they work closely with the organization’s
Leadership and Management teams to manage the budget, expense and cost
recovery systems, and funding models for the organization. Kate has
working relationships with financial peers across the University and
collaborates with those leaders to develop cost-effective service
models, auditing programs, and to evaluate the need for new services
and lines of business. Kate is responsible for the day-to-day
oversight of the organization’s accounting and controls as well as the
preparation of the organization’s consolidated budget; she is a member
of the leadership team. Kate brings a strong customer service focus to
University IT; she has extensive training and development experience
in Leadership Through Quality programs.
Kate joined the University in 1989, and has served in multiple
roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently she served in
several leadership roles in Networking and Communications and was
involved in significant projects including the Telephone Modernization
Project and the Optical Network Implementation Project as both the
financial lead and as a customer service team lead. Prior to joining
University IT, Kate worked in the College of Arts & Sciences. Her
major accomplishments included project managing the College’s network
implementation, developing cost models for non-matriculated programs,
and managing several multi-million dollar relocation and renovation
projects for the College. She was part of a development and training
team that implemented Quality Management and Process Improvement
programs for the College.
Kate is a graduate of SUNY Morrisville and earned membership to
Alpha Sigma Lambda at St John Fisher College in Interdisciplinary
Studies. She has served on the NEC Users Group Board of Directors for
the past 5 years and is completing her tenure this year, as Past
President. She has presented nationally on cost recovery models for
Infrastructure and Telephony in Higher Ed and on Managing and Designing
Effective Work Flows. Locally, Kate served on several Agricultural
and Conservation committees writing articles on Impacting Agriculture
and state legislation that includes a ‘Right to Farm Life’ bill for the
Town of Farmington.

Robert is currently the Director of Networking and Communications for the University of Rochester. Networking and Communications provides a broad range of integrated services and supports the infrastructure required to advance the University's primary mission of teaching and learning, research, patient care, performance, and community service. Robert’s aspirations in his role include advancing information technology service at the University and, as a strong advocate of professional development, he seeks to strengthen IT personnel by encouraging training and goal-setting.
Robert joined University Information Technology in 1996 where he has served in various roles as a technician, engineer, manager, and assistant director in Networking and Communications. Prior to his employment at the University of Rochester, Robert served for ten years at Cornell University where he led the information technology group responsible for networking infrastructure at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Robert attended Alfred University, completed supplementary coursework at RIT, and maintains several technology-specific certifications. Robert enjoys spending time with his family and is a proud father of two. When not hard at work maintaining the stables at his home, Robert enjoys sports such as golf, racquetball, and the occasional ski trip.

Julie Myers is the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Rochester. In her current position, she reports to the CIO. Julie’s responsibilities include working collaboratively with the University community to grow the University-wide security program including security awareness campaigns and the continued development of the security architecture guidelines. Her role also includes the tasks of assessing and reducing overall security risk and assuring compliance with government, University, and other regulatory policies and laws related to information security and privacy.
Julie joined the University of Rochester in 2006, bringing with
her 22 years of experience in information technology in a wide variety
of roles. Julie’s most recent position prior to joining the University
was as the Global IT Director for Architecture, Security and Planning
for Eastman Kodak Company. In this position, Julie was responsible
for a global information security team assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley,
PCI, HIPAA, security policy and compliance, risk management and
mitigation and information security awareness. Also included in her
responsibilities was management of the global solutions architecture
team, process re-engineering team, and IT governance and planning
teams.
Julie has a solid background in project management, strategic
planning, IT governance, and IT management processes. She has led IT
lead teams responsible for supply chain, purchasing, security,
architecture, advancement, finance, and a variety of other areas.
Julie’s most recent accomplishment at the University of Rochester was in
the successful implementation of the Advancement System Replacement
project (OASIS), helping to position the Advancement organization for
the future.
Julie earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Management
Information Systems from the State University of New York at Albany.
Julie is a member of various local and national IT centric committees
and user-groups.

About Communications & Planning
Samantha Singhal is Director for Planning and Communications in the Office of the Vice President for IT. She is responsible for information technology planning, with strategic planning being a key aspect of her role. Samantha has oversight for IT communications, including the development of an institution-wide IT Annual Report. She also leads the organization's professional development and diversity and inclusion programs.
Samantha joined the University in 2000 as a programmer/analyst. During her tenure in higher education, she has worked in several IT disciplines, including software development, quality assurance, project management, and communications. One of her first projects was the implementation of PeopleSoft for Human Resources, Payroll, and Benefits processing. More recently, Samantha led the University’s computer store and coordinated an institution-wide information security awareness campaign. She also played a pivotal role in the development of the FY09-FY13 Information Technology Strategic Plan.
Samantha is actively engaged in diversity and organizational development efforts. She has authored a research bulletin titled “Attract, Retain, and Engage the Best: Building an Inclusive IT Culture through Professional Development” that was published in 2010 by EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research. Samantha has presented nationally on transformational ways to develop people in an organization and represented University IT’s diversity and inclusion program at the University of Rochester’s second annual diversity conference.
Samantha earned her bachelor’s in Business Administration—Computer Information Systems from West Texas A&M University in 1997 and Master of Science in Information Systems Management from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester in 2000. She is currently a member of the EDUCAUSE Fellowship Advisory Committee.
Samantha is originally from India, but also lived in Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates before coming to the U.S. to pursue undergraduate studies, making her extremely familiar with the experiences of an international student on campus. She is active in the University community through her leadership in the South Asian Professional Networking Association (SAPNA). Samantha enjoys travelling and exploring new destinations with her family.

Eileen Wirley joined the University of Rochester as Associate Chief Information Officer in August 2008. Her initial focus is University Cyberinfrastructure, including the construction of and migration to the new state of the art primary data center environment to expand educational, healthcare, and research capabilities.
Prior to joining UR, Eileen was Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Carestream Health, Inc., the $2.5B manufacturing company that resulted from the sale of Eastman Kodak Company's Health Group to Onex. Highlights included rapidly carving out and establishing a global IT organization, environment & operations. Her enterprise-wide responsibilities spanned architecture, strategy and operations across applications and infrastructure.
While at Kodak, Eileen held several IT Director roles, including divisional CIO and Global Operations positions. As Global IT Director for Application Operations, she managed a worldwide internal staff of over twelve hundred systems analysts who provided design, development, project delivery and support for a portfolio exceeding two thousand applications. She successfully implemented global sourcing agreements with offshore partners, moving production support and application development to a global delivery model.
Eileen earned an MBA degree from the University of Rochester Simon School, and a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame (magna cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa). She chairs the Board of Directors at Career Development Services, is a member of the eBusiness Association Board of Directors, and is an MIS Advisory Board member for the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Eileen was nominated for the Association for Women in Computing 2008 IT Woman of the Year, and was a Finalist for the Women’s Forum 2006 Jane Lanphear Legacy Award. She is a wife and mother of two. She and her family reside in Penfield, New York.
