Staff members from University IT participated in the United Way Day of Caring on May 11, 2012. Volunteers cleaned playgrounds and helped beautify the campus by raking, pruning, weeding and landscaping the grounds at the Rochester Childfirst Network.
University IT staff members competed in a Valentine's Day bake-off to raise money for Scotty's Ride, an annual bike ride to raise money for children's charities. The talented bakers rose over $300 to donate to the cause.
University IT donated twelve desktop computers on April 14, 2011 to the Mt. Hope
Family Center, a local nonprofit organization that promotes strong,
healthy relationships in families affected by poverty, violence, and
mental disorders.
Larry Messmer, an electronic technician with Networking and Communications in University IT, helped deliver the computers to the Center in Corn Hill.
During November 2010, University IT conducted a food and clothing drive. The food drive supported the Well-U sponsored food drive to benefit Foodlink. The group collected over 200 food items that were donated to Foodlink.
University IT employees donated over 500 pieces of clothing to Matthew's Closet, a local organization.
