Web Content Management System (WCMS)
Many Web sites at the University of Rochester are now maintained by a Web Content Management System called Cascade Server.
This system allows departments and organizations to maintain their own Web pages by using a browser-based application that requires no special software or knowledge of HTML. It provides a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editing interface so that each page can be previewed before it is published.
It also allows the use of the standard University and College layouts, so that you can easily create an attractive, professional Web site for your department that adheres to the university's visual identity standards.
Publishing Freeze
Publishing Freeze Delayed until June 2nd — (Update 3, 5/9/12)
Networking modifications have been slated for 05/02/2012. The new freeze on Web Content is slated to now be only 8 hours. The new timeline looks to be:
- 5/2 - Network modifications
- 5/4 - Deadline for all departmental site testing
- 5/7 - 5/10 - Last minute remediation's / network testing
- 5/12 - Migration (early AM)
- 5/13 - 5/18 - Final clean-up
- June - WDEV Refresh (replaced with production copy)
- 7/1 - Old servers decommissioned
The refresh of WDEV will be scheduled for a later time.
