University IT provides email accounts to approximately 10,000 individuals throughout the University community. Student, faculty and staff email accounts are provided. This page is designed to help students and professionals find answers to common email questions on topics including forwarding, mailing lists and spam handling.

Undergraduate Students: UR’s student email service is available to all undergraduates, as well as Eastman graduate students. You can find full details on this service at our URgmail page. New students will receive information about their email account via postal mail prior to their arrival at the University. More Information

Arts, Sciences and Engineering Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students: Faculty, staff and graduate students in Arts, Sciences and Engineering are eligible for an account on either the Zimbra or Exchange service.

Exchange: Some staff may require an account on the Microsoft Exchange server. Consult your department administrator if you have questions. To request a new Exchange account, click here.

Zimbra: Zimbra is available to faculty, staff and graduate students of Arts, Science and Engineering. Please see our FAQ for basic information. To request a new Zimbra account, click here.

NOTICE: The Zimbra email environment was upgraded for all users on January 28, 2012. See what's new in version 7.0. Documents and Briefcase functionality has merged in version 7. If you use this service and are missing documents, your desktop support liaison will assist you. Your documents are not lost; there is a utility that once run will restore your documents into the appropriate Briefcase. Questions may also be directed to 275-2000, Option 4 and univithelp@rochester.edu.
