Spam Handling
University IT uses Sophos PureMessage as a web-based spam filtering system for all email messages on University servers. Visit the spam management page for more information on PureMessage, to sign up for PureMessage filtering and client configuration.
Spam filtering may be set up not only for individual email accounts, but for Exchange mailing lists as well.
Filtering Spam in Mailing Lists
Exchange distribution lists can be set up to filter out spam messages.
Exchange users
- Spam filtering must be specified when submitting a distribution list request. Simply click "yes" for the "Enable spam protection" heading.
- NOTE: List owner will need to have PureMessage enabled on their own email account.
