Are smartphones, laptops, and iPads a classroom distraction or untapped asset? As an instructor, how do you handle digital distractions in the classroom? Should you strive to make your classes so engaging that there is little temptation to fire up Facebook or check a Twitter feed, or is the Internet simply too alluring to resist? Discuss these questions and more at the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning‘s Coffee Hour discussion on “Electronic Distractions in the Classroom: Managing and Utilizing the Instant Connections in the World.” The event will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the Case Method Room (1-9576), Medical Center. RSVP to Jenny Hadingham.
