Enhanced University IT Spam Management Service

In the past two years, spam email messages have increased over 200%. Many University IT-supported email users have experienced the effects of this increased volume. University IT has an enhanced spam management service that will help users to filter unwanted emails. Incoming spam is held in a web-accessible quarantine area for two weeks and then archived for an additional 45 days. The service covers most River Campus email domain names (example @ur.rochester.edu).

New servers and upgraded software have been installed to improve the speed and effectiveness of spam filtering. While the University IT spam management service will filter most of the spam sent to your inbox, no filtering service is 100% perfect. University IT continues to make adjustments to spam blocking techniques to respond to innovations by spammers.

Features of the Service

Improved Spam filtering: The software and hardware has been upgraded to more effectively filter spam.

Enrollment: You are automatically enrolled in the service. No action is required to protect your email. If you do not want spam management protection, you may cancel your participation in the service using our Spam Management Quick Reference guide for directions.

Mailing lists/Distribution lists: All mailing lists/distribution lists are protected by the new service.

NetID Login: Like the previous service, your emails will be associated to your NetID. Please use your NetID to login to your quarantine and the spam management user interface.
