General system information for Mail

Hostname: mail.rochester.edu
IP Number: 128.151.224.17
Additional names: uhura.cc.rochester.edu, uhura

Most ITS computers are named after characters from the various Star Trek televison series. Our primary E-mail server was recently switched from a Star Trek character to the more descriptive and generic name "Mail." But the original name, Uhura, lives on and will work for those users who wish to continue the tradition. Uhura was named after Lt. Uhura, the communications officer of the original U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from the original Star Trek series (played by Nichelle Nichols).
