Student Systems

These services support many of the processes associated with a student’s progression from admissions through to graduation. This includes the tools that support the students, faculty, advisors, registrars, and financial aid offices with key information about a student or prospective student. The student systems also support admissions processes, financial aid application and management, course registration, grading, tracking progress against requirements for graduation, student employment, and a host of related processes.

Student Systems is a broad term used to describe the many student related applications used throughout the University and supported by the University Information Technology Applications & Architecture unit.

The primary student system at the University of Rochester is the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS). This is an established, core system, on which many standard University processes and routines are based.

In addition to sharing data between University offices, Applications & Architecture facilitates ISIS information  feeds to other systems such as Parking, FRS, HRMS, Directory, Student Employment, Advancement (also known as FIST, the University's fundraising & alumni system), several UR departmental systems and external high school, governmental and banking agencies. ISIS support extends to modifications driven by regulatory requirements.

In order to meet new and/or business specific needs, additional systems have been collaboratively developed and when possible, interfaced with existing University systems, making use of common data information and goals, using tools and technologies as appropriate.

Some of the other applications under the Student Systems umbrella of support:

Financier is an add-on vendor product which facilitates financial aid packaging.

UR ACCESS Plus! is the web entry point for students, faculty and advisors to gain access (as appropriate) to grades, financial aid information, holds, course grading and academic advising.

Several highly customized web based on line registration, on line application and applicant tracking systems have been developed in house.

The Student Systems Support Team is located on the second floor of the Towne House and is available during standard business hours, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
