Impromptu requires that a Windows 2000/XP user
have Local Administrator authority
to do the following:
New install
Create a new catalog (not a personal version
of a distributed catalog - this pertains to Impromptu Administrator.)
Change defaults for data formats (e.g.
change format for numeric data to currency). This is mostly important for people who use more than one data family.
Change default locations for files.
Change general settings such as whether the
Wizard is on or off.
Otherwise, the department Administrator will be
required to perform these functions. Many of these functions will appear to
succeed, but not return an error message if they have 'not taken'.
ITS/ACS is recommending (but not requiring) Local Administrator for
Impromptu use.
