Data Warehouse
The data warehouse is composed of a set of reporting databases,
reporting tools (i.e., Impromptu) and support for using the tools to
enable staff across the University to create their own reports.
Data in these databases is extracted from various production
databases and is organized for optimal reporting ease of use. All
data warehouse data is read only.
Impromptu
Impromptu is a client-server, PC-based desktop data retrieval tool
that provides users with access to detailed University data.
Impromptu has become a popular reporting tool that many people
at the University use to access financial, space, cumulative salary
and fund raising/gift giving data from the data warehouse.
Impromptu is also used to access other relational databases in
the University.
ISIS
The University of Rochester's Integrated Student Information
System (ISIS) is a system of integrated ADABAS data base files
used to store information about students. The type of data stored
includes information about the student's person, admission
application, registration, financial aid, housing and billing as well
as information about the course catalog and faculty assignments.
This system supports most of the functional business needs of
our student services offices from admissions through graduation.
FRS
The University of Rochester is currently using software products
developed and marketed by Systems & Computer Technology
Corporation (SCT), specifically the IA-Plus Financial Records
System (FRS). We are running two of the five available modules:
Financial/Grant Accounting and Accounts Payable.
FIST
The FIST (Fundraising Information Systems Team) database
keeps track of alumni, parents and friends (individual and
organizational) of the University. FIST was created by the University's Administrative Computing
Services in conjunction with the Development and Alumni Affairs
staff of all University divisions; FIST first "came active" in April,
1987.
HRIS
HRIS is the University's Human Resources Information System. The system manages University employees' payroll and benefits.
TMS
TMS is the University's Time Management System. Its objectives are:
- To make time reporting as easy-to-use and efficient as practical (while complying with UR policies and staying within legal, contractual and financial constraints)
- To offer flexible time entry vehicles to accommodate the University's diverse needs
- To allow for the easy addition or modification of payroll rules (i.e: with a table driven system)
- To implement a time and attendance system and interface to the University's Payroll system to ensure that accurate payroll information is collected and maintained, appropriate payments are made to employees and government agencies, and historical information is available for reporting
MI$ER
Mi$er was developed by Administrative Computing Services of the
University of Rochester. This software application was created as
a desktop database program which enables users to record,
monitor, and report on employees, appointments, budgets,
encumbrances, and expenses at department levels of detail.
