PureMessage Available Now!
Take Back Your E-Mail!
Would you like greater control of your University e-mail inbox? Information Technology Services has instituted Sophos' PureMessage, a comprehensive and flexible web-based e-mail management solution, to protect you against spam and unsolicited e-mails.
PureMessage has replaced SpamAssassin as the University's current spam-management software. PureMessage runs in conjunction with your e-mail server, reducing the number of junk e-mails you receive by up to 98%. You may choose one of two methods with which your e-mail is handled: tag-and-pass or quarantine. Tag-and-pass will flag your unsolicited e-mails as spam and deliver it to your inbox. Quarantine will hold unsolicited e-mails at the PureMessage server instead of your inbox, so you can review them at your leisure. Regardless of the method chosen, under no circumstances will your e-mails be deleted without the opportunity to review them.
PureMessage is NetID-based, similar to on-line student voting or the new PeopleSoft HRIS system, which utilizes a single login. The same login used for viewing your paycheck can be used to filter your e-mail. No special knowledge is required, and spam updates are automatically delivered and seamlessly deployed as new threats or workarounds arise.
If you would like to use PureMessage and stop spam before it gets to your inbox, use the links below or call the ITS Center (x5-2000) for assistance in activating PureMessage.
