NCS Mailing Lists
The NCS Engineering
group operates a mailing list manager on the NCS server (utd.rochester.edu).
This manager handles a number of mailing lists, some of which may be of
interest to the UR community at large:
mcnetdown
similar to netdown, for the Medical Center network.
netdown
notifications of planned and unplanned outages to URNet,
associated networks, and the URNet Internet connection.
phonedown
similar to netdown, for the UR phone system.
Command Reference
To subscribe to
any of these lists, send a mail message to 'majordomo@utd.rochester.edu' with
the following line in the body (not the subject):
subscribe listname
where listname is the mailing list in question. For example, to subscribe
to netdown, use the command:
subscribe netdown
The manager also supports other commands; to retrieve a list, send the
command
help
in the body of a message. The manager contains a number of other lists;
however, these are not all open to general subscription. For questions
about the system or any of the lists, please send mail to owner-majordomo@utd.rochester.edu.
Several of the lists
are archived, as indicated in the list descriptions. A list of the available
archive files can be obtained with the index command:
index listname
The archives are available through majordomo with the get command:
get listname filename
Where filename
is one of the available archive files. The archives are also available
via anonymous ftp to ftp.utd.rochester.edu, in the directory /pub/archives.
