On the new phones, the RSC or Restriction Service Class dictates
what numbers a user can dial from their phone. The RSC codes are
as follows:
- International calling
- Long distance calling 24 hours a day
- Long distance calling between 8am and 5pm
- 9 county calling
- Local and toll free calling only
- Internal calling only
With the old system, calling restrictions were based on the RSC
of the phone number used to place a call.
With the new system, calling restrictions are based on the RSC
of the MY-LINE.
So with an RSC of 5 on the MY-LINE, and a virtual with an
RSC of 1, a user will never be able to make an international call.
The user will be bound to local and toll free calling only. And
likewise if a user has a MY-LINE with an RSC of 1, and a virtual
with an RSC of 6, no matter which line is used, the user will
be able to make international calls. If a user is experiencing
difficulties in placing calls, and the RSC of the line being used
is correct, it may be necessary to determine the
RSC of the MY-LINE to determine the problem.
