troi.cc.rochester.edu
Troi's primary function is to provide compute cycles for academic
endeavors, specifically official University of Rochester for-credit
courses, academic research and graduate training.
Troi also provides general computing and network access with a few
exceptions. No games (locally offered, or via the network) including
but not limited to IRC/MUD/MOO/chess/go and so on are prohibited. These
games are permitted (and local servers can be set up if necessary) if
required for coursework.

the left side navigation bar then click the "Mail Account and Network
Access" link.

Most Troi Cluster Systems are named after characters from the various
Star Trek television series. Troi is named after Commander
Deanna Troi, the ship's counselor of the U.S.S. Enterprise
NCC-1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation (played by
Marina Sirtis). Other hosts in the troi cluster include
picard (Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, ST:TNG);
riker (Cmdr. William Riker, first officer,
ST:TNG); laforge (Lt. Cmdr. Geordi LaForge,
chief engineer, ST:TNG).

Software
Troi supports several packages, primarily for programming, mathematical,
and statistical purposes. It also has software for electronic mail,
USENET news, file transfer, and wide-area information services, although
it is not primarily intended for those uses.
