Remote Access: VPN

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to access restricted University resources from off campus through a secured Internet connection. Faculty, staff, and students with a current, active relationship with the University can use VPN. University resources that do not require VPN to access remotely include emailSharePoint, and most library resources.

Install VPN

University IT is in the process of upgrading VPN and implementing Duo two-factor authentication to enhance information security and better protect remote access to University resources.

  • Pilot users: Follow the instructions below.
  • Not part of the pilot? If you are still using the current VPN, login for instructions.
  • Medical Center users: To connect to the Medical Center network remotely, visit the URMC Remote Access Portal.

 

To connect to the University network remotely, you will need to install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client on your computer or mobile device. This is a one-time process. Be sure to complete this upgrade on all computers and mobile devices on which you use VPN.
