Setup VPN in Windows 2000
Follow these steps to get VPN set up in Windows 2000:
- Click Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up Connections,
Make New Connection
- The Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard window will appear.
Click Next.
- Select Connect to a Private Network Through the Internet, then click
Next.
- Select Do Not Dial the Initial Connection, then click Next.
- Under Host Name or IP Address, type 172.19.1.250, then click
Next.
- Select Create this Connection For All Users, then click Next.
- Under Type the Name you Want to Use for This Connection:, Type in
UR-Wireless, then click Finish.
- You will be presented with a Connect to UR Wireless login screen. Enter
your NetID and password and click Connect.
- You will see a status window as you are connected to VPN. When the connection
completes, the window will be minimized to an icon in your system tray.
- You may now use internet applications like Internet Explorer or Eudora
to access University resources.
When you are finished, right click the VPN icon in the system tray and click
Disconnect.
