Installing AWireless Card in Windows XP

To install your wireless network card, insert the card into the computer. Windows XP will detect the card and begin the hardware installation. A message will appear on the taskbar.

After a minute, the notification should change to "installation complete".

Click Start, Connect To, Wireless Network Connection.

The Connect to Wireless Network dialog box is displayed.

Click on Advanced

The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box is displayed

Under the Preferred Networks section - click Add

The Wireless Network Properties dialog box is displayed

In the Network Name (SSID) field type URNET- click Ok

The Wireless Network Connection properties dialog box is displayed - click Ok

You should see a notification displayed on the taskbar that your computer is now connected to the wireless network.

Installing Network Services

Click on Start, Connect To, Show All Connections

Right-click on the Wireless Network Connection and select Properties. The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box is displayed

Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) - click on Properties. Verify that Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically are selected. Click Ok.

Click Ok to close the Wireless Network Connection Properties window.
