| Mission Statement: | Our mission is to celebrate the diverse cultural and linguistic differences we experience in the world. Through experiences on campus, off campus, in America, and abroad we hope to cultivate interest, understanding, enthusiasm, appreciation, and above all acceptance of each country's uniqueness in our members, in the student body, and in ourselves. | |
| Meetings, Activities & Goals: | Each language hosts conversation hours, which are attended by students and TAs and professors from each language to discuss culture and history and gain experience in talking in the language. All students who want to come no matter their degree of experience are welcome. Our council hosts guest speakers from within the campus and without. These speakers often bring to discussion new theories, vast knowledge of contemporary and classical texts, experiences and memories of time spent abroad, and other such topics that broaden the spectrum of students' interests. We also host an International Film Festival that stands apart from films shown for courses. These films often highlight on more contemporary cultural issues and genres but often allow students to experience the classic cinematic works famous in each culture. In addition to our speakers, lectures, and films we have bimonthly meetings where our members come to discuss campus life, world issues, and our growing involvement in the places we go. Everyone is invited to join us in any event, any meeting, any lecture at any time. We promote openness to any student, faculty, or staff that harbors an interest in anything! | |
