*FINANCIAL AID REMINDER*
Dear Junior:
This is a reminder that if you are a New York State resident and are receiving
any New York State sponsored award (including, but not limited to the NYS TAP
grant or NY Scholarship for Academic Excellence) you must declare your major
immediately (if you have not already done so) so as to not jeopardize your New
York State aid eligibility.
New York State regulations state that a student who is offered State grant
aid must be registered for at least 12 credit hours and have an officially declared
major by the beginning of their Junior year to continue receiving NYS grant
money.
In order to ensure proper and timely disbursement of your New York State grant
aid, we must require that you make arrangements with Academic Support and your
Department to have your major officially declared by the fall semester.
If, by this deadline, you do not have an officially declared major, your NYS
award for this semester and the spring semester must be decertified by our office.
This will remove the fall portion of your TAP award from your student account,
and you will be required to cover any balance that may come from this adjustment.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Office of Student
Financial Assistance or stop in to meet with one of our On-Call Counselors during
walk-in hours.
NOTE: If you are not a NYS resident, have already officially declared your
major with your department, or are not receiving one of the above mentioned
awards, please disregard this financial aid notice.
Sincerely,
Financial Aid Office
