Direct Loan ENTRANCE COUNSELING

All First-time borrowers at the University of Rochester must complete loan entrance counseling before loan proceeds can be credited to your student account. 
In the entrance counseling session:

1. You will understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower.
2. You will be provided with information on interest rates, expenses, repayment plans and other important details about borrowing.
3. You will know who to contact with questions.

You may complete your loan entrance counseling online.
Please go to www.dlssonline.com and complete an entrance interview quiz.

After completing the entrance interview quiz we will be notified by the U.S. Department of Education within approximately one week that you have completed entrance counseling.

 

Direct Loan EXIT COUNSELING

All students who borrrow Federal Direct Student Loans while at the University of Rochester must complete a loan exit counseling session. This is a federal requirement for all Direct Loan recipients. If you do not complete a loan exit counseling session your University of Rochester diploma will be held until this requirement has been completed.
In the exit counseling session:

1. You will learn how to make payment of your loans easier and to get help with any problems.
2. You will learn how to protect your credit rating to avoid problems with future purchases.

In order to complete an Exit Counseling on-line, you must first obtain a PIN number and establish an account at the Department of Education website.

Please go to http://www.pin.ed.gov/

You may complete exit counseling online.
please go to www.dlssonline.com and complete an exit interview quiz.

After completing the exit interview quiz you must complete, print, and then submit the 'Borrower Information' page the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
