Important points to remember
- In order to receive University merit and need-based
grants & scholarships, Federal SEOG, & NYS TAP you must be registered
for at least 12 credits per semester and be meeting satisfactory scademic
progress standards. (Please refer to the Student Handbook for satisfactory
academic progress requirements.)
- Federal Pell and Federal SEOG disburse throughout
the academic year after we confirm your eligibility with the federal processor.
- NYS TAP disburses after the drop-add period.
You must appear on the state's award roster before we may credit TAP to your
student account. Academic eligibility includes, but is not limited to: satisfactory
academic progress standards, full-time enrollment, pursuit of program, and
official major declaration by the start
of the student's junior year.
- Federal Work-Study employees receive bi-weekly
paychecks based on hours worked. These earnings do not appear as anticipated
aid on your student account.
- Federal Perkins Loans disburse after you sign
your promissory note and related loan documents.
- Federal Direct Loans for first time borrowers,
loan proceeds disburse after you complete a mandatory pre-loan entrance counseling
session and after you sign your master promissory note.
Funds cannot disburse without completion of these requirements.
For students who received a Federal Direct Loan last year, loan proceeds
disburse automatically to your student account after an acknowledgement is
received by the Loan Origination Center.
- Outside scholarships, grants, and loans disburse
when the agency administering the program provides the funds to the University.
- Students transferring into the College may be eligible
for the Transfer Meliora Grant, worth $5,000. Transfer students who
are members of Phi Theta Kappa will be awarded $5,000. Transfer students
will only receive aid until their graduation date that was determined at the
time of admission. Transfer students are not eligible for any additional
University merit scholarships. Students seeking a second bacehelor's
degree are only considered for Federal Direct loans if there is loan eligibility.
- Federal regulations prohibit us from disbursing aid
prior to ten days before semester classes begin.
- You will receive anticipated credit of aid on your
Bursar's bill through November 10. If your file is not complete and/or
your aid does not disburse before the anticipated credit expires, your next
bill will be for a higher amount. If you have any questions or concerns regarding
your bill, when to pay, or how much to pay, we encourage you to contact the

- You must maintain satisfactory academic progress in
order to remain eligible for assistance in future years. (Please refer
to the Student Handbook for satisfactory academic progress requirements.)
