Summer Financial Assistance

There is federal financial aid available to students who would like to take classes over the summer. Because the summer term is typically a header to the following academic year, portions of the following year's federal direct loan amounts can be applied toward summer charges and living expenses. In order to be eligible for federal aid during the summer, students must register for at least 6 credit hours and be matriculated in a degree seeking program. Undergraduates who receive Federal Pell Grants may elect to use a portion of their yearly award toward summer as well. In order to apply for federal aid during the summer term, students must submit the FAFSA, University of Rochester Financial Aid Verification Statement, appropriate tax and W-2 documents and the Summer Aid Request Form which can be downloaded here beginning April 1st:

2005-2006 Consortium Agreement

Students may also apply for alternative student loans in order to cover summer costs. Alternative loan applications are available at the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

As summer classes typically start immediately after commencement in May, summer aid applications should be completed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance no later than April 15.
