Required Elements

Each page (that is not a personal page for an individual) must contain the words "University of Rochester," so that those brought to the page by a search engine can identify the host institution. Each page must also have a link taking the viewer to the departmental or office homepage (if the Web page is within a department or office site). Department or office homepages should contain a link to the appropriate divisional homepage (Medical Center, College, Warner, Eastman, Simon), and all pages should contain a link to the University homepage.

Each page also must contain notice of the last date the page was changed, the name of the publisher, and a copyright notice. Adding the following piece of code to the bottom of a page will automatically update the date it was last modified:

NOTE: The last modified command will only work on the server and will not work when your file is on your desktop computer.

Personal pages should not carry the "University of Rochester" banner or the name "University of Rochester" (or a University division's name) in a way that suggests that the contents are institutional in nature or otherwise have official approval.

Use of the University templates brings most pages into compliance.
