Eastman Quadrangle

The Eastman Quadrangle is named for University benefactor and Eastman Kodak founder, George Eastman. The centerpiece of the River Campus, the "Quad" is the academic home of the College, defined by the original River Campus buildings—including the landmark Rush Rhees Library—that were opened to students in 1930.

Commencement ceremonies are held each year on the Eastman Quadrangle. During the summer, listeners can sit on the Quad to enjoy music performed on the Hopeman Memorial Carillon located in the tower of Rush Rhees Library. It is one of only six carillons in New York State. Over the last year the Eastman Quadrangle has gone wireless. This new service recognizes how students work and live, providing flexibility and convenience. Students are able to use their own devices, anytime of day or night to work on projects, check e-mail or surf the Internet while relaxing on the Quad.
