Hill Court

Built in 1969, the David Jayne Hill Court is the newest residence hall complex to be constructed on the River Campus. It is named after David Jayne Hill, the second president of the University, who served from 1889 to 1896. Hill Court houses approximately 539 students in suite-style units, and is comprised of six buildings (Chambers, Fairchild, Gale, Kendrick, Munro, and Slater) that are interconnected by a tunnel system.

Prior to his tenure Rochester, Hill was the president of the University of Lewisburg (now Bucknell University). Hill, who was in his mid-40s when he left Rochester, was later an assistant secretary of state, minister to Switzerland, and ambassador to Germany. He also wrote extensively on political science.
