Lattimore Hall main entrance
Originally constructed as a chemistry building in 1930, Lattimore Hall was named after Samuel A. Lattimore, a beloved chemistry professor and University administrator, who also served as acting University president from 1896 to 1898. Lattimore Hall was the first building for which ground was broken when the University began construction of the River Campus in 1927. In 1947, a five-story addition with a penthouse was added on to the north side of the building. Its most significant renovation was in 1973, when the building was converted to office and classroom space, and the chemistry department was moved out of Lattimore to the new science building (Hutchison Hall). The most recent major renovation was in 1993, which reconfigured the space occupied by the American Sign Language Center on the first floor. Along with the American Sign Language Center, Lattimore Hall currently houses the offices of the Dean of the College, the Center for Academic Support, and the Registrar to name a few.
