Family Values in the Classroom is Lecture Topic
Two educators from the Rochester City School District will join faculty from the University of Rochester's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development to talk about the effect of family values in the classroom at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Hoyt Hall on the River Campus.
Miriam Vazquez, principal of School 22; Rochester Teachers Association president Adam Urbanski; and Howard Kirschenbaum of the Warner School will discuss "How Have Changing Family Values Changed Education?"
Panel moderator is Frederick Jefferson, director of the Institute for Urban Studies at the Warner School. Jefferson is an advocate of multicultural education who has published two works on the subject.
Kirschenbaum is Frontier Professor of School, Family and Community Relations. He is the author of 22 books, including 100 Ways to Enhance Values and Morality in Schools and Youth Settings.
The event is part of Wednesday Evening Lecture Series sponsored by the Rochester Regional Alumni Association of the University. Admission is free and open to the public but reservations are requested and can be made by calling (585) 273-5888.
