Deborah Hay will be holding a workshop discussing the relation of consciousness, perception, and creativity to body and dance from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the dance studio in Spurrier Gym on the River Campus.
A resident of Austin, Texas, since 1976, Hay tours as a solo performer and teacher. In her choreography Hay experiments with the nature of experience, perception, and attention in dance. She has received many awards, including numerous fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Award, a McKnight Award, and a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Fellowship.
Hay is the author of three books, including Lamb at the Altar: the Story of Dance and My Body, The Buddhist. She was also selected by the Austin Critics Table in 2002 as part of the first group of artists to be inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame.
