EVENT: Biomedical Engineering Students Demonstrate Devices To Help People With Disabilities

WHAT: Biomedical Engineering students will present and demonstrate devices they have designed for people with disabilities. Devices include a moving chair that helps doctors diagnose balance problems, known and vestibular dysfunction, a probe to be used for brain surgery that uses ultrasound to detect air bubbles in the blood stream, and many other devices.

WHEN: Today, Monday, May 10, 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Kornberg Atrium, at the University of Rochester Medical Center

In the fall, students met with people with disabilities and with occupational therapists to determine what kinds of devices might make the lives of people with disabilities easier. For the entire fall semester, students designed the devices, while this past spring semester they concentrated on constructing them and making them work. Today, the students will demonstrate their devices and present them to the people for whom they were designed.
