EVENT: Reading by poet Daniel Donaghy as part of The Plutzik Series

Local poet Daniel Donaghy will read from his works at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in the Welles-Brown Room in Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester’s River Campus as part of The Plutzik Series.

The author of two chapbooks, Stadium Traffic and Kensington Avenue, Donaghy also has a new book-length collection of poems titled Streetfighting; copies will be available for purchase at the reading. His work has appeared in The Southern Review, Poet Lore, New Letters, Alaska Quarterly Review, Commonweal, and other journals.

Currently completing his doctorate in English at the University of Rochester, Donaghy earned his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University, a master’s degree from Hollins College, and a master of fine arts degree from Cornell University. Donaghy has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, and the Cornell Council for the Arts.

The Plutzik Series is one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious literary reading programs and readings are free and open to the public. Established to honor the work of Hyam Plutzik, a distinguished poet and Deane Professor of Poetry and Rhetoric at the University, it has featured more than 175 noted writers, including Pulitzer Prize winners Anthony Hecht, Elizabeth Bishop, and Galway Kinnell.
