EVENT: A discussion on "What You Should Know about the Next Energy Crisis," featuring Ben W. Ebenhack, senior lecturer, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Rochester.

Rochester American Institute of Chemical Engineers will hold a discussion, "What You Should Know about the Next Energy Crisis," featuring Ben Ebenhack, of the University of Rochester, at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The program will take place at the RIT Inn and Conference Center, Henrietta Room, located at 5257 Henrietta Rd.

Ebenhack will address the ongoing debate over the world's oil supply. Some experts claim that the world will pass the "peak oil production" point within 10 years, resulting in an irreversible decline in petroleum production. Others allege that energy prices are experiencing a short-term surge that will soon disappear, and that prices will soon begin to decline.

Ebenhack is a senior lecturer at the University of Rochester. His research focuses on the transition toward sustainable energy resource utilization. Ebenhack spent 11 years as an exploration analyst for Unocal Corp., a major multinational energy company. He is also the president of a non-profit company called AHEAD Energy that helps lower income countries develop their own energy resources.

Admission includes dinner and tickets are $10 for Members of the Rochester AIChE, $12 for Non-Members, and $8 for students.
