EVENT: Free Admission for University Community to Director's Film Screening
University of Rochester students, staff, and faculty will be admitted free to the presentation of Willenbrock, a 2005 German film directed by Andreas Dresen, at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, in the Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House, 900 East Ave.
Dresen will introduce his latest film and will discuss his work after the screening.
Willenbrock, a tragicomic drama, focuses on a successful married car dealer who finds his secure life disrupted when he becomes attracted to a young student. An observer of class relations in post-Communist Germany, Dresen has been compared to other social realists such as Mike Leigh, director of the 2004 film Vera Drake.
The screening is presented by the German section in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures and is co-sponsored by the Office of the College Dean, the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies, the Film and Media Studies Program, the Graduate Program in Visual and Cultural Studies, and the George Eastman House.
