University of Rochester Ranks in U.S. News Listings of Leading Universities
University of Rochester graduate programs in economics and political science appear in the Top 20 among leading national universities in the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
Political science is ranked 11th and economics is 14th in a breakdown of graduate and professional programs. The macroeconomics specialty within economics was rated eighth.
As a national research university, Rochester competes with Princeton, Harvard, and educational institutions of that stature in categories from medicine to engineering. The newest listings will appear in America's Best Graduate Schools for 2002, an annual publication of U.S. News available April 2.
In medicine, the University's School of Medicine and Dentistry was ranked 14th in the area of primary care and 31st for research. Within the health disciplines, community health was listed as fifth, pediatric nursing as ninth, clinical psychology as 36th, and nursing as 36th.
The University's William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration was ranked 26th, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences placed 45th in the nation.
Since 1987, the magazine's editors have published the rankings as one of many criteria for students who are considering graduate school.
