EVENT: Food and Film Night, featuring 'El Mariachi'

TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, in Dewey 1-101 on the University of Rochester's River Campus

ADMISSION: Free to University students, staff, and faculty

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures will sponsor a screening of El Mariachi, an action-packed film that takes place in Mexico, for the next "Food and Film Night" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Dewey 1-101 on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

The 1992 film is director Robert Rodriguez's first feature and is the first chapter of his "Mariachi Trilogy." In this episode, an out-of-work musician, The Mariachi, is mistaken for an assassin who carries his guns in his guitar case. The mistaken identity leads to the Mariachi being hunted by a drug lord.

Refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity for informal discussions. This event is co-sponsored by the College Dean's Office. For more information, please contact the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at x5-4251.
