EVENT: Lecture titled "Lonely Planet: Medieval Europe Visits Asia and the New World"

TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in the Robbins Library in Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester's River Campus

ADMISSION: Free and open to the public

Thomas Hahn, professor of English, will examine "mobility" as a mode of transportation and exploration, as well as its influence on our ability to compare and contrast medieval and modern, West and East, New World and Old. He will discuss how these cultural realities are supported or misrepresented by written accounts and visual images. Hahn's lecture is sponsored by the Medieval Society.
