Annual Funds Leader Appointed in Advancement Division

Robert L. Stamp Jr. has been named the University of Rochester's executive director of annual giving programs.

In a career spanning more than 15 years, he has distinguished himself as a leader in building resources for organizations in both the education and healthcare sectors. Additionally, he has launched and managed marketing initiatives involving sales, special events, and community relations.

"Bob Stamp will help us create a new paradigm for annual giving programs at the University of Rochester," said James D. Thompson, senior vice president and chief advancement officer. "He has superb organizational skills and a record of success in developing strategies for national outreach. I am thrilled to have him join our expanding Advancement Division."

Stamp is currently completing his tenure as senior director of development for regional programs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg.

His experience in fundraising for education also includes service as executive director for development at the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) in McLean, Va., a national organization that supports academically talented high school and college students considering business and technology careers.

He was director of constituent relations at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he personally managed a portfolio of more than 100 leadership gift prospects. He also served as vice president for development with the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TS Alliance) in Silver Spring, Md.

A western New York native, Stamp earned his bachelor's degree in mass communications from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. Before specializing in fundraising, he did marketing and promotional work in Buffalo for Junior Achievement, the Easter Seal Society, and the Buffalo News.
