EVENT: "Mind Over Madness" with Jim Karol

TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester's River Campus

ADMISSION: $6 for the general public, $3 for University of Rochester students, faculty, and staff; available in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus and at the door

Karol is a professional magician who uses wit and audience participation to showcase mind and memory skills. The holder of three Guinness world records, including one for throwing a playing card more than 200 feet, Karol has made numerous television appearances on programs such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America. A former police officer and steel mill worker, Karol began his magic career at age 29. He is the author of 50 Ways to Hustle Your Friends as well as two books on improving memory skills and appears in the movie Jackass 2, which opens Sept. 22.

For this show, Karol is appearing with Chris Chelko, a fellow professional magician who toured with Karol in his previous show, "Mind, Magic, & Madness."
