Arun Gandhi yesterday resigned as president of the board of the M. K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, which has been housed at the University of Rochester since June 2007, and the Institute's board today issued a statement respecting his resignation.
At the request of Mr. Gandhi and the Gandhi Institute board, we are distributing their statements, as well as a background document on the Institute and a statement from University President Joel Seligman. They can be found at: http://www.rochester.edu/news/gandhi/
All parties wish their statements to speak for themselves. Previous statements by President Seligman and the Faculty Senate can also be found on the same Web page.
