Andrea L. Lennon, who spearheaded the United Way/Red Cross Campaign that raised $1.3 million at the University of Rochester this year, has been named campaign coordinator of the year by the United Way of Greater Rochester. She and other award winners will be recognized for their service at a presentation today.
University of Rochester employees and retirees have donated more than $1 million in each of the three years since Lennon became the University\'s campaign coordinator. She will receive the Richard P. Miller Sr. Award, which is named in honor of the second president of the local United Way. Lennon\'s campaign team includes more than 600 volunteers.
At the University of Rochester Medical Center, Lennon is executive director and chief operating officer of the Center for Community Health. Before she joined the Medical Center, she was chief operating officer of the Visiting Nurse Service.
Lennon serves on the United Way of Greater Rochester\'s Community Investment Cabinet and is a member of the United Way\'s Campaign Cabinet. Other Campaign Cabinet members at the University are: Joel Seligman, University president; Sue S. Stewart, senior vice president and general counsel; Dr. Bradford C. Berk, senior vice president for health sciences and CEO of the Medical Center; Dr. David Guzick, dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry; Peter Robinson, vice president and chief operating officer of the Medical Center; Frederick C. Jefferson, professor emeritus of the Warner School of Education; Charles J. Murphy, associate vice president for human resources; and Stacey Fisher, assistant director of student activities for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering.
A member of the board of directors of the Greater Rochester YMCA and Junior Achievement, Lennon also has volunteered with C.A.S.H.—Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope—that helps low-income families file their tax returns free of charge.
Lennon is a graduate of Skidmore College and earned her Executive MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a resident of Fairport, N.Y.
