EVENT: Panel Discussion Looks at History of Diversity on University's River Campus

WHO: The University of Rochester\'s Minority Student Advisory Board (MSAB) commemorates its 10th anniversary with a University-wide forum: The MSAB Agreement Revisited: 10 Years Later.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, Sloan Auditorium (Robert B. Goergen Hall for Biomedical Engineering and Optics)

WHAT: The forum revisits the sit-in founding MSAB organizers staged in 1999 to bring attention to the lack of diversity among students and faculty and to advocate for change. To address the grievances of the students, University administrators signed the MSAB Agreement, which called for the creation of a diversity mission statement and the development of programs for recruiting minority students, faculty, and staff. Designed to actively engage students and University administrators, the panel discussion and open forum will focus on questions regarding the quality of life for today\'s students, how the issues have evolved over the last 10 years, and how those issues are being addressed by the current administration. Panelists include President Joel Seligman, Vice President and General Secretary, Senior Advisor to the President, and University Dean Paul Burgett, University Intercessor and Former Office of Minority Student Affairs Director Dr. Frederick Jefferson, Dean of the College Richard Feldman, and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jonathan Burdick.
