EVENT: University of Rochester Students Present Program on Military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Policy

WHO: University of Rochester students are sponsoring a program around the military\'s \'Don\'t Ask, Don\'t Tell\' policy, which includes a presentation and question-and-answer session with Lt. Daniel Choi, a West Point graduate and Iraq war veteran who was discharged from the military last spring after he announced he was gay on a national television show.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 at Hubbell Auditorium in Hutchinson Hall on the University of Rochester\'s River Campus

WHAT: On Oct. 10, the Associated Press, among other news outlets, reported that President Barak Obama planned to end the military\'s \'Don\'t Ask, Don\'t Tell\' policy, which currently allows gay men and women to serve in the military under the stipulation that they will not disclose their sexuality.

Since then, debates on this policy have sprung up around the country. University of Rochester students will bring the conversation to campus by hosting Lt. Choi, who will share his story and subsequent battle to have the policy repealed.

Tickets, which are $5 for University of Rochester undergraduates and $7 for members of the community, can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons or at Equal Grounds, located at 750 South Avenue.

The event is sponsored by the Pride Network, Women\'s Caucus, Amnesty International, Campus Activities Board, The Eastman Office of Student Life, Pride Alliance, ResLife, College Democrats, the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity, the Gay Alliance of Genesee Valley, and Xerox\'s Galaxe Pride at Work.
