EVENT: Benefit Concert Supports Leukemia Research

Concert Features Performances by Dance Groups Louvre and Indulgence, and music groups Vocal Point, Midnight Ramblers, No Jackets Required, After Hours, and YellowJackets

WHO: Seven University of Rochester performance groups come together in a benefit concert, Rock Out for Leukemia Research, in support of sophomore Allison Eberhardt, who is being treated for Leukemia and inspired the students to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, in Strong Auditorium on the University\'s River Campus.

WHAT: The concert is in honor of University of Rochester sophomore Allison Eberhardt, an active member of Vocal Point, No Jackets Required, and the Renaissance and Global Scholars program. Eberhardt was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a blood cancer that affects bone marrow and white blood cell development in September 2011.

An inspiration to students on the River Campus, Eberhardt\'s strong will, courage, and positive attitude shone through as she documented her difficult battle with the disease through a blog, which she has updated through the course of her treatment. She was recently recognized by the Mesotheloima Cancer Alliance Blog, which named her one of the top 10 most powerful cancer stories of 2011 and the Toronto Star praised Eberhardt\'s rendition of Adele\'s Turning Tables.

At the concert, organizers will be selling orange Leukemia bracelets at the door for $1. The group also has organized a T-shirt fundraiser; T-shirts are $15 and can be purchased online. All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

TICKETS: Tickets, which are $8 for Rochester students and $10 for the general public, can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons, online, or at the door.

FOR MORE INFORMATION: For more information about the concert, email Amanda Page at apage3@u.rochester.edu.
