EVENT: Religious Diversity Celebrated on Campus

The Interfaith Chapel at the University of Rochester will sponsor a program at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, in the main sanctuary to showcase and to educate the community about the religious diversity on campus. This annual celebration uses music, dance, traditional dress, prayer, ceremony, and testimonials to explore the variety of faiths on campus.

Now in its third year, the program will spotlight different faith traditions including Jain, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist, Latter Day Saints, Muslim, Reform Judaism, and Christian Science. The event has become a popular program and students will give testimonials about their notions of spiritual health and healing.

Some of the performers include dancers from the University's dance program, Native American dancers, and gospel singers. In addition, there will be recitations of prayers from different traditions and a presentation by a local Ayurvedic physician, Sonam Targee.
