'Professors of the Year' Announced by Students' Association
One University of Rochester professor from each discipline area of engineering, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences has been selected as an "Undergraduate Professor of the Year" by the Students' Association.
The four professors were honored at the opening of this year's Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference in the College. The winners were: Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mark Bocko in engineering, Professor and Chair of the Religion Department Emil Homerin in the humanities, Professor of Psychology Barbara Ilardi in the social sciences, and Professor of Biology H. Allen Orr in the natural sciences.
More than 55 undergraduates nominated faculty members for the awards presented by the Students' Association. Each winner received a plaque and flowers.
The Research and Creativity Conference, held earlier this month on the River Campus, is designed to highlight exceptional student work under the supervision of a faculty member. Sponsored by the College and Students' Association, the conference has been organized annually since the National Conference on Undergraduate Research was held on the River Campus in 1999.
