University of Rochester students and the general public will have an early opportunity to see the newest Warner Bros. Pictures film, Pay It Forward. The sneak preview will be shown at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Hubbell Auditorium in Hutchison Hall on the River Campus. This event is free and open to the public. Door passes are required for admission and can be obtained at the Wilson Commons Information Desk.

Reuben St. Clair (Kevin Spacey), an emotionally and physically scarred social studies teacher, challenges his young students to devise some type of philanthropic plan and put it into effect. A young boy (Haley Joel Osment), whose own life is far from rosy, takes the assignment to heart and invents the "pay-it-forward" philosophy, which encourages paying back favors in advance. The whole town embraces the boy's concept, and random acts of kindness become a community pastime. Though celebrated by acquaintances and the media, the boy struggles at home with his alcoholic mother (Helen Hunt), and the only one who recognizes his lonely fight is St. Clair.

Seating is limited and is first-come, first-serve. The Student Activities Office and UR Cinema Group are sponsoring this screening. Pay It Forward is rated PG-13. For more information please contact (585) 275-5911.
